Position: Sales Associate
Job Description:
Sales Associates typically work 2pm – 10pm, or 10pm – 6am. Customer service is the
primary job duty, but maintaining store appearance (cleaning and stocking) is
equally important.
Associates must learn and comply with laws concerning tobacco, alcohol, and EBT
food/cash benefits, and be able to follow procedures on credit cards, money orders,
lottery, and cash register operation.

Position: Area Manager
Job Description:
The ideal candidate already knows that they enjoy a fast-paced retail environment, can juggle
multiple tasks, has an understanding of how to manage and motivate people, doesn't mind
"getting their hands dirty," wants to get rewarded based on performance, and has prior
convenience store or other retail management experience.
Persons being considered for this position would be required to manage a store for
6-12 months.
Principle duties and responsibilities:
Profit/loss responsibility for 7-9 stores with 40-60 store associates; sales and customer
service; personnel/staffing and store manager/team development; implementation of
Marketing programs.
Base salary + bonus ($500+ monthly potential, and up to 10% annual bonus potential)

Paid Training
Affordable Health and Dental Insurance (available after 3 months to Certified Associates
who work at least 32 hours a week).
Plaid Pantry employees can check their medical benefits here.
Life and Accidental Death and Disability Insurance
For all Certified Associates, $10,000--no cost to you
Paid Vacation
Managers and Assistant Managers earn:
After 1 year, 1 week
2 years, 2 weeks
5 years, 3 weeks
Sales Associates and Certified Associates accrue vacation at the same rate but based on
actual hours worked.
After 3 months of employment, you can begin using vacation time that you've earned!
Paid Sick Leave
Managers and Assistant Managers earn 5 days a year.
Certified Associates earn sick time at the same rate but based on hours worked. After
3 month Certification, you begin earning sick leave.
401(k) Retirement Plan
Save $$$ before paying taxes. For every $1.00 the company will match $1.50 (up to
$900 a year). Fully vested. Available to all Associates after 1 year (must be over the age
of 18 and working 1,000+ hours a year).
Oregonians Credit Union
Direct deposit of paychecks. Christmas club and Vacation Club available. Call 239-5320
for information on locations in the Portland and Beaverton areas.
Education Assistance
After 3 months of full-time employment, you have up to $1500/year to use for job related
courses. Ask your Supervisor for a request form and turn it in to Human Resources
for consideration.
Service Award Pins/Pendants
Receive a diamond & sapphire pin at 5, 10, and 15 years of service.
"Cafeteria" Plan Child Care Expenses
Save money by paying for childcare with pre-tax earnings.
Holiday Pay
Earn time-and-a-half for all hours worked on Thanksgiving and Christmas between 6 am and
6 am the next day.
Advanced E.I.C. (Earned Income Credit)
If you qualify for E.I.C. on your taxes, you may also qualify to receive up to half that
amount in advance, which means more money in your paycheck today.

A handy way to pay for your lunch or snacks while you're at work.
Buddy System
Get paid for bringing good people to the company. As long as you are both still with the
company, you receive $25 at 1 month; $50 at 3 months; $100 at 6 months; and $250 at 1
year! All hourly Plaid Pantry employees are eligible to participate in the Buddy System
program.

Applicant FAQ:
For a cashier position the minimum age in Oregon is 18, and in Washington 21. For gas
attendant or foodservice positions the minimum age is 16.
You can send your resume and/or application to our main office, but it’s quicker to go
in person to a store and turn it in to the manager.
The main office does not track which stores currently have openings. Applications
received at the office are forwarded to field supervisors.
Applicants are not necessarily hired for the store where the application was turned in;
stores within an area share the applicant pool based on their staffing needs. If you
have a preference you may note it on your application.
